Overview
The Sr. R&D Program Manager is responsible for leading complex reagent development programs for chemistry, oligonucleotide and enzyme materials.  The role is pivotal in driving innovative projects from concept to development through GMP manufacturing, while ensuring alignment with company objectives, timelines and budgets.  The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing R&D projects, specifically in reagent or assay development, and have worked multiple years in a chemistry, biochemistry or related research laboratory.  The work will be cross functional with scientists, project managers, quality, and operations teams to advance our client's product pipeline and deliver high-quality reagents that meet customer needs. This position is part of the Chemistry R&D Department and will be onsite located in Bothell, Washington. 
Responsibilities

  • Ensure all site-level project timelines for new reagents are aligned with global assay stakeholders and strategic corporate initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, meeting minutes, design history files, etc. per FDA guidelines for new product introductions.
  • Identify project risks, dependencies, and critical path activities, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Guide technical teams in the design, development and optimization of reagents, ensuring projects adhere to scientific rigor and best practices.
  • Manage of a small team of project managers responsible for new product introduction, as well as laboratory supervisors supporting general administration of R&D laboratories (e.g., laboratory safety, materials management, equipment management, etc).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related work experience OR Master's degree with 6+ years of related work experience OR Doctoral degree with 3+ years of direct hands-on work experience in Chemistry or Biochemistry laboratory.
  • Minimum of 8 years in biotechnology or life sciences, with 5+ years in R&D project or program management, preferably within reagent or assay development.
  • Strong background in reagent development for biotech applications, with a solid understanding of product development lifecycles, validation processes and quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with cGMP work environment and documentation requirements; sound knowledge of laboratory safety and biosafety practices, adherence to all chemical and lab safety regulations.
  • Ability to travel domestic and international 10-20% of the time per year.
Preferred
  • Project management-centric software applications, including the following: (1) Product life cycle management software (e.g. Agile) and (2) Visual project management (e.g. MIRO / Trello).
  • Enterprise resource planning software; SAP or equivalent
  • Practical application of basic financial constructs, including the following: (1) Cost of goods (2) Bill of materials and (3) Return on investment.
  • PMP certification
