Title: Senior Supplier Development Engineer - Plastics
Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Job Type: Contract (1 Year)
Hourly Pay Range: $40-$55 (Based on Experience)

SUMMARY
Kelly Engineering is seeking a qualified Senior Supplier Development Engineer (Plastics) to support our client in the Medical Device industry. In this role, you will be collaborating with Plastics Injection molding suppliers and internal teams such as engineering, operations, and quality. The ideal candidate for this role would be someone with experience in Injection molding (Tooling preferred).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sustain plastics molding suppliers for production related engineering tasks including troubleshooting quality issues, requalifications, supply continuity escalations, etc.
  • Communicate between internal and supplier teams to resolve quality and validation issues
  • Serve as a key part of the qualification core team for NPI projects including new and transfer capacity
  • Identify, quantify, prioritize, and drive supplier improvement projects
  • Use data analytics to make recommendations and drive VAVE projects (Quality, Cost, Efficiency)
  • Review tool health, spares, and make recommendations on required repairs and refurbishment
  • Establish, track, and trend key supplier performance metrics (KPIs) - OEE, FPY, Tool Availability, and SPC
  • Review, initiate and represent supplier recommended design changes to internal engineering teams and execute Engineering change orders to suppliers
  • Evaluate technical capabilities at supplier sites and qualify suppliers based on selection criteria
  • Provide feedback and update internal supplier selection and qualification processes

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Plastics, or Industrial Engineering (or relevant) with 5+ years of relevant work experience OR Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong technical and analytical ability with a high degree of professional acuity
  • Proven experience in Injection molding & tooling development
  • Able to read 2D drawings with GD&T and work with CAD (preferably SolidWorks)
  • Experience with equipment selection, operation, and processing
  • Ability to work at Supplier sites and office environment
  • Must be willing and able to travel to supplier locations – primarily regionally located

BONUS EXPERIENCE
  • APICs certification
  • MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Agile, and SAP
  • Ability to read and interpret product Bill of Materials (BOM's)
