Position: Shop Foreman

Salary: $25+/hour
Schedule: 2nd Shift (4:00 PM – 3:00 AM)
- Will train on 1st Shift before moving to 2nd Shift
Position Overview:
Manufacturing company servicing the construction industry in Grand Rapids, MI. If you're honest, hard- working, and enjoy a fast paced, collaborative environment this is the place for you.
Position provides leadership and guidance for production and directs production per production schedule. You will report scheduling issues to Plant Manager, assist with quality checks, receive and organize parts and follow/implement general safety procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Controls workflow by material handling with overhead crane.
- Able to operate all yard equipment.
- Directs workload per employee capabilities.
- Sits in on weekly production meeting.
- Manages shop floor space with current workload.
- Reviews prints prior to fabrication looking for galvanized, oversize, CJP (complete joint penetration) or any other out-of-ordinary work.
- Receives daily parts shipments and organizes parts for production. Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
- Checks in finished prints, marks traveler, files in job specific box when completed.
- Provides guidance with fabrication and welding techniques.
- Performs quality checks.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Supervise, lead, and manage employees.
- Responsible for shift production.
- Able to communicate shift expectations to employees.
- Responsible for securing shop at shift end.
- Disciplines plant personnel as necessary.
- Leads staff initiatives to maximize organizational efficiency and profitability.
