Laboratory Technician-Specimen Processor – Temple, TX

Kelly Science & Clinical is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician-Specimen Processor in a  laboratory setting, functioning as a key support for the Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team.

Biorepository Operations:

  • Manages the day-to-day functioning of the biorepository, ensuring smooth sample handling and storage.
  • Upholds quality management programs and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adheres to biosafety protocols established by COMPANY and the Biorepository.
Biospecimen Handling:
  • Receives biospecimens following proper procedures.
  • Processes and aliquots biospecimens for further analysis.
  • Enters biospecimen data into the Freezerworks system.
  • Labels biospecimens accurately.
  • Maintains and curates' metadata related to sample quality.
  • Freezes and stores biospecimens under designated conditions.
  • Ships biospecimens according to protocols.
  • Manages biospecimen inventory effectively.
Laboratory Maintenance and Quality Control:
  • Performs general laboratory maintenance tasks as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Conducts quality control and assurance functions, including maintaining temperature logs.
  • Assists in developing new SOPs.
  • Strictly follows established SOPs.
  • Documents any deviations from protocols.
Research Activities:
  • Carries out assays and research procedures adhering to SOPs.
  • Records experimental techniques and meticulously documents data.
  • Analyzes data accurately to generate statistically relevant results.
  • Examines, interprets, compiles, and reports findings to the PI.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and workspace in line with SOPs.
  • Reports equipment problems to designated personnel for repair or maintenance.
  • Participates actively in laboratory meetings.
  • Trains fellow lab members on protocols and safety procedures.
  • Assists in coordinating the technical direction of projects for efficient and cost-effective completion.
  • Handles administrative tasks like ordering supplies, scheduling equipment servicing, distributing work assignments, and monitoring lab expenditures.
  • Maintains compliance with continuing education and regulatory requirements, including safety and compliance training.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a biological science field is preferred
  • At least 2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Ability to work flexibly based on sample processing needs.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques like pipetting, staining, and aliquoting, blood centrifugation, plasma, serum.
  • Experience with laboratory maintenance procedures.
  • Understanding of quality control principles.
  • Strong knowledge of safety practices relevant to the lab environment.
  • Skillful in using computer software programs used in research.
  • Excellent communication and training abilities to instruct others on lab protocols and safety.
