Sustainability Packaging Project Lead
Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Sustainability Packaging Project Lead for our client a leading medical device manufacturer in Rochester, New York. Schedule: On-site Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm
Length of assignment: 14 months likely to extend
Pay: $45-55 an hour with some flexibility
Seeking an engineer or chemist with research & development and manufacturing experience, who has also considered the environmentally and sustainability impacts associated with products and packaging. The individual should be recognized as a technical expert and have project management skills with demonstrated experience in collaborative cross-functional working groups while influencing change. The individual will work within the Contact Lens Research & Development organization will collaborate with manufacturing operations, the corporate sustainability organization, and external subject matter experts and vendors
Job Duties:
- Evaluate and implement materials and processes to improve the product sustainability profile including alternative materials, fewer materials, less use of chemicals, water and energy during the manufacturing of contact lenses, while also considering the full lifecycle, packaging and end-use by consumer
- Develop and execute an action plan with relevant team members and stakeholders to evaluate these potential environmental sustainability-related improvements and implement approved changes.
- Influence other departments to evaluate and/or implement improvements and provide supporting information to justify deployment of resources for said improvements.
- Primary focus will be on contact lenses while also engaging and coordinating internally with lens care, surgical, pharmaceuticals and other business units.
- The individual must demonstrate knowledge of environmental sustainability, strong documentation, organization, project management and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive innovation, teams and risk-based decision processes, and work effectively across organizational boundaries.
- BS with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in Chemistry, Engineering, Process Development, MS with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience, or PhD with minimum of 4 years' experience.
- Hands-on experience and technical expertise in a development environment a must. ISO, FDA, medical device manufacturing experience from ideation through commercialization a plus.
- Medical device packaging experience is a plus.
