Test Engineer - Addison Illinois

Role Overview: Become an integral part of a talented quality assurance team as a Senior Quality Test Engineer, responsible for conducting in-process and final inspections and testing of low and medium voltage panelboards, switchboards, and switchgear. Ensure that products meet industry standards and fulfill customer expectations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Review: Examine job-specific drawings and specifications to pinpoint inspection and testing requirements.
  • Plan Development: Craft and sustain inspection and test plans aligned with industry standards and customer demands.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering and commercial teams to guarantee comprehensive testing of all product features and functions.
  • Equipment Management: Specify, source, and maintain testing instruments, ensuring precision and accuracy.
  • Safety Assurance: Establish, communicate, and uphold safety standards during testing and inspections.
  • Defect Management: Identify and report defects discovered during inspections, aiding troubleshooting and resolution efforts.
  • Industry Awareness: Keep abreast of industry standards and technology trends to maintain current testing practices.
  • Documentation: Record test outcomes and prepare detailed reports.
  • Customer Communication: Share inspection and test results with customers when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience (3-5 years) in electrical distribution equipment testing.
  • Standard Knowledge: Familiarity with Electrical Distribution Equipment standards (e.g., UL 67, UL 891, UL 1558, IEEE C37.20.2, IEEE C37.20.3).
  • Safety Expertise: Proficient understanding of safety protocols, particularly NFPA 70E for workplace electrical safety.
  • Technical Acumen: Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and models.
  • Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication capability.
  • Detail Orientation: Exceptional attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
  • Preferred Background: Experience in design engineering, assembly, or field service within the electrical distribution equipment sector.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
