Description

Kelly Science & Clinical is currently seeking candidates for a Tissue Culture Technician position at a food company south of Houston. The overall responsibility of the position is to support plant research activities in greenhouse and field settings by providing hands-on experimentation, data analysis, and reporting.

Job Responsibilities:
 

  • Work within research teams and assist with plant breeding and experimental programs
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new research methods and technologies
  • Manage greenhouse-based nurseries, monitor plant growth, and ensure optimal plant care
  • Conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, and document detailed observations
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses
  • Operate vehicles and equipment as necessary for greenhouse or field operations
  • Maintain safety standards and comply with pesticide application regulations
Job Requirements:
  • AS/BS in Biology or related field
  • Experience with plant tissue culture, cell culture, and aseptic technique
  • Knowledge of plant growth, breeding principles, and basic experimental methods preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data
  • Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions including outdoor weather, heat within greenhouses, and occasional exposure to chemicals
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate with co-workers, breeders, scientists, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with scientific software such as PRISM or molecular breeding tools is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
This is a ~ 6 month temporary assignment with the possibility of being hired by the company based on personal performance and business needs. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
