Job Title: Turnaround Mechanical Planner  Position Purpose: The Turnaround Mechanical Planner is responsible for developing detailed job packages based on the scope defined in work orders, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance execution. Key Responsibilities:

  • Field Planning & Site Visits:
    Lead assigned maintenance field planning activities, conducting site visits alongside plant personnel to verify job scope and requirements.
  • Job Package Development:
    Compile comprehensive job packages for each assignment, detailing all necessary resources: labor, materials, tools, equipment, and contracted services, including cost estimates.
  • Task & Activity Documentation:
    Break down each job into identifiable tasks, documenting procedures, activity sequences, and required safety measures.
  • Safety Requirements:
    Identify, document, and communicate all relevant safety information. Ensure compliance with policies such as smoke-free, tobacco-free, and drug-free workplace standards.
  • Procedure & Technology Utilization:
    Source and attach all specific procedures and Dow Most Effective Technology (MET) documents necessary for the job.
  • Systems & Tools:
    Input job plans and resource requirements into SAP. Utilize other IT tools (e.g., Adept, EDMS, MOC) to optimize and streamline the planning process.
  • Process Improvement:
    Proactively identify and implement process improvements in job planning; mentor and train others as needed.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    Communicate job details to maintenance, operations, and contractor teams to ensure alignment and understanding of deliverables.
Daily Responsibilities:
  • Review incoming work orders and clarify job scope with requestors.
  • Perform walk-downs of job sites to assess job conditions and constraints.
  • Determine and document job steps, safety requirements, labor skills, parts, and special tools needed.
  • Create and update job plans in SAP and other related systems.
  • Coordinate with procurement and stores to ensure material availability.
  • Adjust schedules and plans as priorities, resources, or business needs change.
  • Participate in safety meetings and team planning sessions.
  • Track and report progress on assigned planning activities.
Required Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current, valid US driver's license.
Experience and Specialized Training:
  • At least five years' experience in maintenance or equipment repair.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in maintenance or project planning, preferably in industrial/plant environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical craft skill sets.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with Adept, EDMS, and/or MOC preferred.
  • Safety training, certifications, and awareness required.

    Fully integrating required safety and process protocols in all planning.
  4. Timely Communication and Plan Updates
    Regularly informing relevant stakeholders and updating plans as necessary.
  5. Process and Efficiency Improvements
    Driving continual enhancement of planning processes and tools.
