Description

UX/UI Engineer | Powering the Future of Energy Infrastructure

Location: Melbourne, FL (Hybrid) Role Type: 12+ Month Contract

Are you a UI specialist who thrives at the intersection of high-performance backend engineering and intuitive user design? Do you want to build the visual interfaces that keep the power grid running and the energy sector evolving?
We are looking for a UX/UI Engineer to join our team in the Power & Utilities sector. This is not your typical web design role. You will be building sophisticated, data-rich interfaces for mission-critical applications that operate at the "edge." You will be the bridge between complex distributed systems and the operators who rely on them.

The Mission
As our UX/UI Engineer, you will own the user journey for platforms that handle massive real-time data streams. From visualizing power consumption metrics to monitoring grid health, your designs will ensure that complex information is accessible, actionable, and beautiful.

Your Responsibilities:
Design & Develop: Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces using TypeScript/React or Angular.
User-Centric Research: Conduct deep-dive research and testing to ensure our software meets the high-pressure demands of the utility sector.
Architectural Collaboration: Work alongside systems engineers to implement solutions that integrate with Go, Rust, and Python backends.
Standard Setting: Ensure every pixel and interaction adheres to elite UI/UX standards and industry best practices.
Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed reports and design activity logs to support our engineering lifecycle.

The Tech Stack

We are looking for a technical "unicorn" who understands that great UI is powered by great infrastructure. You will be working within an ecosystem that includes:
Frontend: HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, React, or Angular.
Systems/Edge: Go, Rust, and Python.
Distributed Systems: Kubernetes (K3s), Kafka, NATS, MQTT, and gRPC.
Data & Observability: InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, Pulsar, Prometheus, and Grafana.
Your Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Design, IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience: Proven track record in UI/UX design, specifically for data-heavy applications or dashboarding.
Problem Solver: A strong creative mindset with the ability to solve complex visualization challenges.
Tools: Mastery of modern design methodologies and prototyping tools.
Systems Literacy: You should be comfortable discussing how the UI interacts with containerized environments (Kubernetes) and real-time messaging protocols.

Why Join Us?

This is a chance to work on high-stakes technology that impacts real-world infrastructure. You'll be part of a collaborative team delivering technical solutions that significantly impact the energy business.
Ready to visualize the future of power? Apply today to start the conversation. We are moving quickly to fill this 12-month engagement!
