Position Summary: This position is responsible for the safe operation of any and all company vehicles.
1. Role in Safe Quality Food (SQF)
- Truck Driver is responsible for safe transportation from SunRype dock to location designated for delivery ensuring the finished product chain of custody is intact (seals) and product does not become contaminated or failed to maintain proper temperature for product that requires refrigeration. If this were to occur, then the Shipping Coordinator, QA Manager and Manufacturing Manger must be immediately notified for further disposition. A corrective action will be issued and approved by QA Manager or designate for disposition.
- Follow all SunRype Food Safety guidelines and Personal Health, Hygiene and GMP's.
2. Responsibilities:
- Able to load and unload all vehicles; may involve bins, bulk, solid waste or slurry.
- Able to drive a forklift and be forklift certified.
- Able to perform routine maintenance on vehicles driven.
- Complete and handle paperwork involved when loads are delivered or picked up and the daily road and maintenance logs required when operator the over the road trucks.
- Keep equipment in clean condition.
- Advise supervisor of upcoming maintenance that needs to be scheduled.
3. Job Requirements:

4. Physical Requirements:
This position requires the following physical demands up to 90% of the time:
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Must be able to carry 25 pounds up and down 21 stairs.
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours during a shift minus breaks and lunch.
- Must be able to climb a 12' 6” vertical ladder up a truck tanker.
- Must be able to work in hot, humid and/or cold conditions.
- Must be able to stand, bend, squat, crawl, kneel, reach above shoulders, climb ladders and crawl in tight and awkward workplaces for long periods of time.
- Must have good hand-eye coordination.
5. Non-Physical Requirements:
A. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
B. Experience: Minimum one year experience as a truck driver preferred.
C. Special Skills:
- Able to work any shift, overtime and any or all days of the week in accordance with plant needs.
- Able to drive safely, using both mirrors while backing, turning, or changing lanes to avoid running into cars, structures, or other obstacles.
- Able to secure load and stabilize, verifying such before moving truck.
- Able to stay clear of forklifts while truck is being loaded/unloaded.
- Properly do equipment checks daily and report any problems to maintenance.

D. Licensure, Registration, Certification:
- Valid WA State CDL Endorsement for combinations and tankers.
- First-aid card.
E. External Relationships:
- Vendors
- Customers
F. Internal Relationships:
- The Truck Driver must interact and communicate effectively with all employees of the organization. Effective communication is especially important with the shift supervisor.
G. Direct & Indirect Reports:
- There are no direct or indirect reports.
H. Backup:
- Backup for Truck Driver would be another qualified SRC Truck Driver or sourced out to an approved External Trucking vendor during absence.
