Job SummaryThe EHS Specialist I performs duties for environmental and safety programs at the site to include ESG/Sustainability. The position will have a dual role with ownership of the EHS program at the Frederick, Maryland location, provide EHS assistance for Advanced Program Support in Virginia, and assisting the Senior Director of EHS Corporate. Provides guidance and technical support to site management and employees on activities that may have environmental or safety impacts. Will also provide guidance and support across the Leonardo DRS EHS organization.
Job Responsibilities• Performs daily activities focused on Environmental Protection and Employee Safety
• Preparation of Safety Data Sheet (SDS), master labels and other documentation as needed.
• Aids management with safety and regulatory audits for the site and possibly other Leonardo DRS
• locations.
• Overseas the hazardous waste removal and handling procedures
• Responsible for customer inquiries on shipping, handling, and disposal of chemicals
• Collect and maintain insurance Certificate of Insurance for Corporate EHS
• Responsible for generating literature for orders, SDS, etc.
• Responds to problems and issues in a tactful and expedient manner.
• Performs facilities inspections and reporting requirements.
• Collects data and generates reports and metrics for the site and Corporate- to include mid-year and annual ESG/Sustainability
- Bachelor's degree in EHS, Science or related field preferred with a minimum of 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with OSHA and annual compliance training strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, organization and negotiation skills are mandatory.
- Must have excellent PC-based computer skills.
