Job Summary

Provided complete Technical Supported for all projects and products for R&D Electrical Engineering Lab including Mechanical Engineering Department.  Work requirements include complex soldering on circuit card assemblies (CCA's).  The assemblies will consist of surface mount components including 0201 devices, fine pitch board connectors as well as small footprint packages, i.e. CSP, QFN's, TSSOP's, BGA's etc. on very space-constrained small PCB applications.  Other requirements will include building cable assemblies from MFG Engineering prints to include fine pitch solder cups or small and micro crimp contacts for connector housing.   In addition, product testing, troubleshooting or failure and root cause analyses will be required, reporting all findings to Engineering in form of a report or shared internal websites.  Individuals should be proficient in electronic circuity, some basic knowledge of mechanical assemblies, strong knowledge of test & measurement equipment, ability to communicate well "project manage", be a self-starter/self-sufficient with attention to detail and well-organized.

Job Responsibilities

Technician Requirements:

  • Support Engineering groups with a variety of moderately complex engineering duties and/or hands-on tasks, debugging, repairing, reworking, modifying, or building custom prototype board, cabling, fabrications and test setups.
  • Reviews project instructions and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problems and possible solutions, and to support the design for Design Engineering providing hands-on feedback to engineers.
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills that require little to no direction to complete assigned tasks when troubleshooting complex circuits with or without engineering support and ability to come up with solutions “out of the box thinking” when faced with complicated task.
  • Assists in design, build and/or procurement for material, parts and equipment needed for building or testing of new product or implementation.
  • Provide Engineering Administration support when needed, in aid of meeting product deadlines including some overtime and weekends when they arise.
  • Maybe required to take test data and or measurements and record all results for Engineering
  • May lead technician teams in development or mentor other less experienced technicians 

General Lab Duties/ Other tasks and duties: 

  • Maintaining and organizing R&D electrical and mechanical lab.
  • Lab Inventory to include physically and electronically inventory all spare electronic and hardware components.
  • Equipment inventory as well as tagging for calibration in coordination with internal R&M group.
  • Keep labs in organized manner for pop up EHS audit checks.
  • Comfortable with the shop/laboratory and equipment.

    • Communicate clearly with Team on work status, prioritize work for affective results without having supervisors or managers involvement.
    • Good people working skills/mindset, offering help to team and others without being asked.
    • Ability to adapt to changes needed or work shifting in a new direction at moment's notice.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and 7+ years experience

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
