Job Summary

Responsible for and oversees the loading, unloading and moving of materials within or near plant, warehouse, storage facility or
worksite. May serve as team lead for lower-level handlers, with a focus on continuous improvement on processes. 

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be
moved
• Work under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, requiring advanced skills or
knowledge, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs 
• Regularly perform more detailed tasks requiring deeper knowledge and experience in the specified processes and
procedures 
• Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals 
• Able to effectively communicate with other functional departments, such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing,
Engineering, Quality, and Sales departments 
• Resolve most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levels
• Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues
• Responsible for orienting and training lower-level handlers
• Responsible for overseeing the proper opening of containers using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand
tools
• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand
• Load materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using
hand tools
• Convey materials to or from storage or worksites to designated areas to include the manufacturing floor by use of hand
truck, electric dolly, Forklift, or other device
• Count, weigh, and record materials moved or handled in an ERP system
• Attach tags or labels to materials or otherwise mark information
• Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Maintain forklift certification 
• Solid Experience using Costpoint or another ERP in a manufacturing setting with production and inventory tasks 

U.S. Citizenship required. 

The expected pay scale for this position is $50,515/year - $72,237/year. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, Leonardo DRS considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate's relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
