Job Summary

Manages the review and approval processes for all contracts (to include physician contracts) to follow LHI policies/procedures and federal and state regulations. Contract Manager will be responsible for  planning, communication and implementation of all contract related projects to include selection,  implementation, training and refinement of new and existing contract management systems for the organization at the direction of Chief Legal Officer and/or his/her designee. Contract Manager must have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to professionally manage confidential information. Will ensure all contracts are thoroughly reviewed and redlined, when needed, in a timely manner, prior to presentation to in-house counsel for their review. Will ensure efficient and timely review through the contract review process or will ensure all contract staff does same. Serves as liaison to collaborate with key departments in the contract review process including Human Resources/Payroll, Accounts Payable, Legal, Compliance, IT, Information Security, Insurance, and Risk Management to ensure adherence to Administrative Policies & Procedures regarding contractual agreements and payments. Attends meetings as designated by the Director of Legal Operations or the Chief Legal Officer. Manages Contract Department to ensure accurate and time adherence to LHI's procedures and policies, as well as adherence to requests and direction of in-house counsel. Also effectively negotiates with multiple vendors and responsible for timely delivery and execution of multimillion dollars agreements. 

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Legal Studies, or other related field.
Minimum Years of Experience: 5 Years of relevant experience in Contract Administration, preferably within a healthcare setting.

Required Certifications/Licensure: Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) or similar certification as approved by Chief Legal Officer.
Required Training: Knowledge of computer operations and common software applications;

Knowledge of Medicare Regulations;

Understanding of legal terminology

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting deadlines 

General Knowledge of federal/state regulation and contract laws.

Essential Functions
  • Oversees and manages the Contracts Team to include hiring, training, collaboration on strategic projects, conducting performance reviews, counseling, mentoring, educational development, and general oversight of the work performed.
  • Ensures prompt and thorough evaluation of the entire lifecycle of contracts, from drafting and negotiation to execution and renewals, where needed.
  • Ensures LHI's contract management system is accurate, up to date, and regularly audited by Contracts Team.

  • Manages the overall contract process by ensuring active engagement by the Contracts Team for all business owners and departments within the organization, and with all selected vendors. 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensures all requests for contractual agreements are compliant with LHI's organizational needs and requirements, its policies, and all regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Oversees the Contract Navigator staff to ensure timeliness and accuracy of review/approval processes, and updates processes and policies as needed or requested.
  • Stays abreast of regulatory changes in requirements and informs Contract staff of changes relevant to their role.
  • Maintains working relationships with internal and external customers, key stakeholders, the Contracts and Legal Team and LHI employees by serving as a point of contact for specific questions, issues, and concerns regarding the contract management system and the Contracts Team.
  • Evaluates and identifies potential problems or conflicts in the contract review/approval process and develops alternative solutions to contractual process issues as approved by the Director of Legal Operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring problems or conflicts are handled/corrected appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Identifies contract issues concerning other departments (i.e. Legal, Compliance, HR, IT, Accounting, etc.) and ensures timely review and resolution where appropriate.
  • Designs and implements communication and education processes regarding contract process requirements for all impacted departments and LHI leadership, when directed.
  • Alerts Director of Legal Operations when concerns around contracts, systems, or processes arise.
  • Identifies potential problems, or conflicts, and evaluates and develops alternative solutions for review and approval by Chief Legal Officer or his/her designee.
  • Responsible for ensuring problems or conflicts are corrected/reported appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Designs and implements communication and education processes and provides guidance under the direct supervision and advice of in house counsel for all employees and physicians regarding contractual payment processes and all applicable policies/rules/regulations to ensure understanding and conformance requirements, including attestation functions.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
