Job Summary

The Director of the Child Development Center is responsible for directly

administering the operations of LMC's Child Development Center. He/She

provides administrative leadership in planning, enhancing and implementing

programs; develops facilities and staff to meet new and existing needs;

assure compliance with governmental regulations. Establishes a culture of

nurturing and support for the families. Responsible for providing

administrative leadership in planning, enhancing and implementation of  a 

clear curriculum vision for ages 6 weeks through 5 year olds. The CDC

director is responsible for developing a coordinated and cooperative

approach to childcare and education.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 5 Years of work experience in a program for

children with some management experience required.
Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: CPR and First Aid (may be obtained

within 90 days of hire date).
Required Training: Leadership experience administering a NAEYC accredited

or another high quality program serving children and families;
Proven center management and business skills, including financial

management and budgeting.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and evaluates department goals and objectives that support the hospital's strategic plan.   
  • Operates the Center within budget, plans and prepares the capital and operating budget per guidelines provided by LMC's financial departments annually and recommends to administration the for additional resources, such as space, staff, training, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Recruits, trains, encourage and evaluates all employees of the CDC to maintain quality and competent  staff able to provide quality childcare and promote a positive work environment.
  • Monitors and assures that Quality Assessment and Improvement activities reflect adherence to established DSS standards of care.
  • Serves as a liaison to establish cooperative relationships with community support agencies (i.e.- DSS, DHEC, Fire Marshall, etc.).
  • Plans and organizes activities of the Center for children and parents, i.e. the Fall Festival, Grandparent's Day, Open House, etc.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
