Job Summary
To assist the Gift Shop Manager in the overall running of the Gift Shop.

Required Training: Ability to function in a team environment with excellent customer service skills. Computer experience required. Knowledge of a Point of Sale System preferred. Must have good communication skills and be able to understand both written and oral communications.
- Reports for duty on time and ready to work the shift. Available to substitute on short notice.
- Responsible for gift shop operations on weekend and nights. This involves management of cash receipts and stock, opening and closing store, preparing registers, and troubleshooting customer concerns.
- Maintains good knowledge and location of merchandise and prices in the shop and stockroom.
- Rings up sales while maintaining cash control. Remains current on how to handle special sales, credit cards, payroll deduction, discounted sales, exchanges, and refunds.
- Prepares payroll deduction tickets, credit card tickets and coins for deposit if working nights and weekends.
- Responsible for orienting and training new volunteers/staff assigned to weekend shifts on policies and procedures.
- Checks stock needs in shop and replenishes with like or similar merchandise.
- Assists with design of creative and attractive displays.
- Assists with stock room organization.
- Prepares merchandise for sale by unpacking and pricing.
- Responsible for dusting and cleaning displays.
- Assist manager or other authorized personnel with related job duties as needed.
- Demonstrates communication knowledge/skills necessary to provide services to the age of patient served.
- Assists and supports the Auxiliary as requested by the manager.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as requested in an emergency, e.g. fire or disaster.
- Maintains an optimistic and professional image and exhibits customer relation skills to patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers. Shows courtesy, compassion and respect. Conforms to Service Excellence policy and "House Rules."
