Position Summary Under general#direction, provides organizational leadership in the development, implementation and maintenance of service consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan of the Mary Greeley Medical Center. Leader understands, supports, communicates, and promotes hospital initiatives. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care and a respectful work environment. Position Responsibilities Unit Specific Position Responsibilities Functions in capacity of staff as needed. Assists in monitoring of the Acute Care Team (ACT) effectiveness and response. Leads Code Team and ensures effective cardio-pulmonary emergency response of team. Identifies and ensures staff competency development. Schedules staff and coordinates daily staffing based on ICCU staffing matrix and NDNQI guidelines. Qualifications, Knowledge # Experience Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): Licensed as a registered nurse and authorized by the State of Iowa to practice nursing. Registered nurse with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Mandatory Reporter training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Combative Patient Response Team training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Organizational Requirements: Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Masters in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration or related field. Professional certification in nursing specialty or nursing leadership within 24 months of hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Required Knowledge, Skills # Experience: Skill in effective oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Active Listening skills, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to manage one#s time effectively. Minimum of two years clinical experience in critical care. Thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practice in specialized field as it relates to scientific principles and nursing research. Ability to pursue and foster a sense of team.
