Position Summary Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care. Under general supervision, gathers echocardiographic data for diagnostic purposes. Position Responsibilities Unit Specific Position Responsibilities Participates in department in service training program and assists in providing continuing education. Assists with development of departmental policies and procedures, guidelines and protocols. Assists with ICAEL accreditation. Including, but not limited to, QA monitoring, peer review, physician peer review, QA meeting preparation and attendance, and case review. Evaluates nature of critical and emergency procedures and rearranges patient priorities to accommodate them. Operates, cleans and generally maintains ultrasound equipment. Assists in recording reports performed in the echocardiographic lab. Performs related work as required. Performs diagnostic echocardiographic procedures (routine, stress, TEE) according to physician#s order and established practices and procedures on pediatric through geriatric patients. Gathers and records pertinent patient history for aide in interpreting echocardiographic data. Gathers and records significant anatomical information to aide in diagnosis. (2D, M-Mode, color flow and Doppler) Confers with Cardiologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements. Advises cardiologists of results and provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation. Notifies Cardiologists of significant scans necessitating immediate attention to patient. Assists with operation of Echocardiogram system during PFO closures. Qualifications, Knowledge # Experience Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registry-eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic medical Sonographers. Mandatory Reporter training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Basic Life Support (BLS) training or within 90 days of hire Vascular Certification or within 2 years of hire if hired after August of 2021. Organizational Requirements: Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements. # Preferred Qualifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (RDCS) # Required Knowledge, Skills # Experience: Knowledge of routine echocardiographic procedures and associated anatomy; knowledge of records to be maintained. Ability to perform echocardiographic procedures; ability to operate, clean and generally maintain echocardiographic equipment.
