Title and Summary
Counsel North LAC As Counsel or Legal Manager, you will provide strategic legal support across Mastercard's operations in the North LAC region. You will work closely with business teams, external counsel, regional, local and global legal colleagues to manage legal risk, negotiate contracts, align process, lead projects and support regulatory and business compliance. This role requires a proactive, business-oriented legal professional with strong interpersonal and analytical skills.Key Responsibilities
-Act as day-to-day legal advisor to business clients, including sales, delivery, product, and policy - regulatory teams.
-Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer, vendor, fintech, and co-brand partnerships.
-Support corporate governance and subsidiary management, including board documentation and secretarial duties.
-Collaborate with internal subject matter experts on regulatory, privacy, antitrust, compliance, and cybersecurity matters.
-Lead or support legal aspects of strategic initiatives, including litigation, M&A, joint ventures, and regulatory filings.
-Provide legal guidance on employment and labor, and entity structuring across jurisdictions such as Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Qualifications
-Law degree and license to practice in relevant jurisdiction.
-8-10 years of legal experience, preferably in a mix of law firm and in-house roles.
-Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with ability to simplify complex legal concepts.
- Experience in financial services, payments, or technology sectors is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
