Title and Summary

Counsel, Security Solutions, Dispute and Experience Overview
Mastercard's Security Solutions team is part of Mastercard's global product and services group, and provides strategic and cutting edge safety, security, identity, authentication and fraud solutions to Mastercard's customers and cardholders.

Mastercard is searching for a technology and commercial lawyer to provide product legal support and counsel the Disputes and Experience team within the Security Solutions organization. The candidate will support the overall technology strategies, product and framework development, and implementation of the Disputes and Experience services globally. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.

Role
This full-time role will provide commercial and product support for the business. You will:
• Work with business in bringing to market and/or scaling various products.
• Provide solutions-oriented business counsel to the Dispute and Experience product and development teams globally.
• Manage wide-ranging issues such as data usage/privacy, intellectual property, compliance, regulatory, and tax by partnering with subject matter experts in these areas and other stakeholder teams and balancing these issues against reputational risk to ensure product constructs and commercial agreements are consistent with corporate strategy, internal policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
• Be a strategic partner and trusted advisor to a demanding business unit; counseling the business on deal matters as well as general business matters; engage in a high level of interaction with business clients.
• Provide legal and business risk assessment and analysis on matters from new product constructs sales and go to market strategies.
• Take responsibility for special projects while continuing to handle a steady stream of day-to-day matters.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Manage external counsel within agreed policy and budget.
• Develop strong relationships with product development, business, and senior management within the company.
• Manage and assist with projects relating to creating and managing efficiencies and capabilities that will optimize the current operating model; harmonizing go-to-market strategies and commercial business globally; and administration of such projects.

All About You
• Qualified lawyer with a solid academic and training background.
• Extensive legal experience, preferably including in-house experience.
• Experience in technology, security and/or payments matters is a distinct advantage.
• Strong business acumen, and a keen interest in technology.
• Strong drafting and negotiating skills across a range of complex commercial contracts and the ability to analyze and identify core legal issues.
• Fast learner who can gain rapid familiarity with complex and evolving products and solutions.
• Exposure to a broad range of transactional, commercial and technology law issues.
• Strong working knowledge of data privacy and intellectual property issues.
• Team player and great attitude.
• Self-starter and ability to work independently and collaboratively, including with global colleagues, but also take direction from manager and other team members, as appropriate.
• Experience working on global agreements, across multiple jurisdictions and time zones.
• Must be pragmatic, solutions-oriented, creative, thought provoker, and an advocate for the business; must have leadership skills in bringing different perspectives together and work through competing priorities.
• Must have strong communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues.
• Lively interest in the business of Mastercard and an enjoyment of working in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Ranges
O'Fallon, Missouri: $131,000 - $210,000

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
