About the Team
Data Science Engineers are responsible for the design, development and deployment of Machine Learning systems that support Data Science and Machine Learning solutions. Our ideal candidate would have experience in designing data flows, optimizing workflows in big data environments, functional programming and an understanding in Machine Learning concepts. You will be working with Data Science Researchers, and senior Data Science Engineers to collectively develop and deploy Machine Learning models within our platform.

Role Description
As a Data Engineer Intern, you will be involved with:
• Work with big data platforms and technologies.
• Design complex, but scalable, maintainable and efficient systems.
• Maintain model pipelines, libraries and Machine Learning infrastructure.
• Automate and optimize Data Science tasks and workflows.
• Be responsible for the performance and the automated tests of our code.
• Independently analyze, propose and develop solutions for technical problems and issues.
• Communicate closely and effectively with engineering management, leads, and peers to gather and understand requirements, share project status and deal with unexpected issues.
• Ensure and enforce the adherence to the standards and procedures that result in an environment compliant with information security policy.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Computer Science or a related field
Knowledge and experience in working with big data engine. You understand the benefits of batch processing and parallelization and know how to design a pipeline to scale-out Machine Learning workflows.
Experience with SQL and ETL process.
Experience in software development.
Understanding of Data Science and Machine Learning concepts.
Understanding of software development life cycle.
A capable coder, able to write well-abstracted, production-quality code in Python, Java or similar.
Experience in using cloud services (e.g. AWS, Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud) is desirable but not mandatory
Desire to work with data and help businesses make better data-driven decisions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills.
Additional Skills:
Knowledge of at least one programming language
Python skills are desirable but not mandatory; willingness to learn and adapt to Python-based projects is highly valued.
Role Details:
Annual Salary: $1250/week CAD
