Title and Summary

Director, AI & Data Strategy - Programme Manager / Solution Architect for Privacy Enhancing Technologies Director, AI & Data Strategy - Program Management / Solution Architect for Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PET)

[Overview]
As Director, Solution Architect for Responsible AI and Privacy Enhancing Technologies (RAI & PETs) within the AI and Data Office, you will operate at the intersection of AI engineering, privacy, governance, and public sector enablement. You will partner closely with government agencies, regulators, public sector partners, and third-party vendors—alongside internal product, data science, privacy, security, and risk teams—to design trustworthy, scalable AI solutions that are viable across diverse infrastructure and regulatory environments.

A core measure of success in this role is your ability to identify, shape, and architect high impact RAI and PET-enabled initiatives that expand the reach, credibility, and practical adoption of Mastercard's AI Centre of Excellence (AI COE) across the region—particularly in regulated, sovereignty constrained, or data sharing restricted environments.

This role goes beyond reviewing designs. You act as a solution shaping architect and originator, engaging early with external partners to understand on-prem, cloud, sovereign, or hybrid infrastructure setups, regulatory constraints, data movement limitations, and operational realities.
You define and own end-to-end AI and PET solution architectures that embed Responsible AI principles, privacy safeguards, accountability, and operational readiness by design. You also play a proactive role in originating and framing new initiatives—helping partners move from policy intent, risk concerns, or experimentation into scalable, production ready solutions aligned with Mastercard's regional AI COE strategy.

[Key Responsibilities]

In this role, you will:
• Engage directly with government agencies, regulators, and third-party vendors to understand their infrastructure environments, data architectures, deployment constraints, and regulatory obligations.
• Translate diverse infrastructure and policy realities (e.g., sovereign cloud, restricted data environments, vendor hosted platforms) into practical, end-to-end AI solution architectures.
• Design PET-enabled and Responsible AI by design solutions, including data clean rooms, synthetic data approaches, privacy-controlled analytics, and AI systems with embedded governance controls.
• Identify, scope, and architect RAI and PE-driven initiatives that materially increase the impact, credibility, and adoption of Mastercard's AI COE across the region.
• Advise stakeholders on architectural trade-offs across privacy, explainability, accuracy, scalability, operational burden, and regulatory defensibility.
• Define end-to-end AI systems (data, models/LLMs, orchestration, APIs, monitoring) with accountability, human oversight, documentation, and evidence requirements embedded by design.
• Produce reusable reference architectures, solution patterns, decision frameworks, and playbooks that accelerate Responsible AI and PET adoption across public sector and partner engagements.
• Partner closely with internal governance, privacy, security, and risk teams to ensure solutions are approval ready, defensible, and aligned with Responsible AI expectations.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to senior stakeholders, bridging policy, technology, and delivery conversations.
• Provide architectural guidance, design intent, and decision rationale to RAI & PETs Delivery Specialists responsible for implementation and validation.
• Own architectural direction and solution framing end-to-end, while incorporating structured feedback from delivery to refine and harden solution patterns.

[All About You]
Must have
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 8–12 years of experience in data, analytics, AI, or platform engineering roles, with 3–5 years in a Solution or Technical Architect capacity.
• Strong experience delivering complex AI, data, or platform solutions in real world production environments.
• Demonstrated ability to design solutions across multiple organizations and heterogeneous infrastructure environments, including external partners.
• Proven ability to independently identify high-value use cases and translate ambiguous problem statements into well-scoped, executable architecture proposals.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, emerging technology, or regulated contexts where requirements evolve.
• Long term work eligibility for Singapore

Preferred
• Handson exposure to Privacy Enhancing Technologies or adjacent privacy engineering approaches.
• Experience supporting or shaping Responsible AI, AI governance, or risk sensitive AI initiatives.
• Experience working with government, public sector, or regulated industry partners.
• Familiarity with GenAI / LLM architectures and emerging agentic patterns in regulated environments.
• Background in building or scaling regional capability hubs or centres of excellence.

[Success Measures]
• A strong pipeline of well-scoped RAI and PET-enabled initiatives that measurably increase AI COE impact and adoption across the region.
• Successful deployment of architected solutions across heterogeneous government and vendor infrastructure environments.
• Reuse of Responsible AI and PET architectural patterns across multiple engagements, agencies, or markets.
• Recognition as a trusted architectural authority by government, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
