Director SME Commercialization LAC Overview
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of Latin America and the Caribbean's economy, representing ~90% of the workforce and ~55% of GDP. Mastercard is committed to empowering every business, everywhere, by enabling access to innovative payment solutions and strategic partnerships that drive growth and digital transformation.
This role supports the development and management of the regional commercialization strategy for SME solutions across LAC, while also driving the growth of B2B payment flows, an increasingly relevant opportunity within the SME segment. The Director will focus on identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships with ecosystem players such as ERP providers, expense management platforms, and other technology enablers, not only to extend the reach of B2B payments but also to enrich Mastercard's value proposition for SMEs through complementary capabilities and solutions.________________________________________
Key Responsibilities
Commercialization Leadership
• Support SME go-to-market strategy across LAC by engaging issuer partners and collaborating with Sales to build a strong pipeline.
• Coordinate cross-functional commercialization efforts with Sales Excellence, BDF, Marketing, Franchise, and CIS between others to ensure execution and resource alignment.
• Lead or support client negotiations for key SME opportunities/deals, ensuring alignment with Mastercard's SME strategy and tracking pipeline performance using SFDC tools.
• Drive internal alignment and enablement, fostering stakeholder buy-in (Country Manager, Sales leads, etc), promoting scalable SME growth strategies, and developing client-facing materials and training.
• Drive the expansion of new payment flows in the SME segment through the development of partnerships with B2B payment solutions that address the evolving needs of small and medium-sized businesses.
• Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships that not only support the growth of B2B payments but also offer SME-focused solutions—such as financial management, digital tools, or operational platforms—that can be integrated with Mastercard's offerings.
• Collaborate with partners to enrich the SME value proposition, enabling Mastercard to deliver differentiated, integrated solutions that address the unique needs of SME clients and strengthen our competitive position in the industry.
• Stay current on B2B payment trends, competitive offerings, and technology innovations.
Qualifications
• Proven experience in SME banking, payments, and commercialization across international markets.
• Strong background in B2B payments, enterprise software partnerships, and/or commercial payment solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to engage internal and external stakeholders to drive solution development and adoption.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Excellent relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or STEM field; Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish and English required; Portuguese is a plus.
