Title and Summary

Director, Strategy Pricing & Interchange Role Overview
This role sits within the Customer Economics function for Southeast Asia, with a focus on Pricing and Interchange—a strategically critical component of Mastercard's business. It offers the opportunity to shape customer-facing economics through data-driven pricing strategies and thoughtful interchange management.
Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, including transaction flows, stakeholder revenue models, and regulatory frameworks. You'll apply strong financial modeling and analytical skills to uncover insights, evaluate pricing impacts, and support commercial decision-making.
In partnership with regional teams, you'll help design and implement pricing and interchange structures that align with Mastercard's business goals, meet customer expectations, and comply with local regulatory requirements. You will also act as a subject matter expert, supporting Sales and Business Development teams with strategic input and insights.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, commercially minded, and thrives in a collaborative environment. A strong sense of ownership, executional focus, and attention to detail will be key to success.

Responsibilities
• Build and maintain a strong understanding of global pricing and interchange trends, and apply this knowledge to inform strategy and implementation across Southeast Asia
• Develop and execute strategies to ensure balanced and commercially sound customer economics, through interventions in pricing and interchange
• Identify and evaluate new market segments across Asia Pacific where effective economics can stimulate electronic payments adoption
• Collaborate with Country Managers, Divisional Presidents, and Product Leads to define pricing and interchange structures that encourage volume growth and card usage
• Lead customer economics discussions for both global and regional initiatives
• Manage the end-to-end pricing and interchange process—including strategy development, rate analysis, internal alignment, and customer communication—while providing expert guidance and thought leadership
• Apply tools such as financial modeling, data analytics, benchmarking, and regulatory analysis to inform decisions
• Partner with cross-functional regional and global teams to understand business priorities and execute aligned initiatives
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on Pricing & Interchange within the division

Requirements
• 12–15 years of experience in Strategy, Pricing, Business Analytics, or Financial Modeling
• Experience in the Payments industry is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage and influence both internal and external stakeholders
• Highly self-motivated, organized, and proactive, with strong negotiation and influencing skills
• Proven ability to work effectively in small, collaborative teams and leverage diverse expertise
• Able to integrate cross-functional knowledge, including sales, product, marketing, operations, and risk
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, with strong analytical capabilities
• Commercially driven, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and a structured, process-oriented approach
• Strong team player with a collaborative, consultative mindset and a willingness to support broader Mastercard initiatives
