Title and Summary
Director, Workday Technical Lead OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and dynamic Workday Engineering Team Lead to manage and guide a team of configuration and integration engineers focused on Workday. This leadership role combines technical expertise with people management responsibilities, requiring someone who can drive complex Workday configurations and integrations while developing and mentoring a high-performing engineering team. The successful candidate will serve as the bridge between technical execution and strategic business objectives, ensuring our Workday platform delivers maximum value to the organization while fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Role
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Workday configuration and integration engineers, providing career guidance and performance management
• Drive the technical strategy and roadmap for Workday implementations, upgrades, and ongoing platform optimization, ensuring we keep a pulse on latest Workday enhancements to benefit our organization
• Oversee complex Workday integrations with internal and third-party systems using tools such as Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, and APIs
• Manage Workday configuration across multiple functional areas including HCM, Payroll, Talent, Compensation, Security and Recruiting, Benefits, and Time and Leave Tracking
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including HR, Finance, IT, and business leaders to translate requirements into streamlined technical solutions
• Establish and maintain engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes for Workday development
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues, ensuring minimal business disruption
• Plan and execute Workday release management activities, including testing strategies and deployment coordination
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, user experience, and operational efficiency
• Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with Workday support when needed
• Participate in budget planning and resource allocation for Workday-related projects and initiatives
• Ensure compliance with data security, privacy regulations, and internal governance standards
• Lead M&A Integration projects to bring new acquisitions into our Workday instance
• Lead platform modernization efforts include automation, orchestration, AI integration, and Workday Extend/Studio capabilities.
• Build and mentor global, remote teams with a focus on coaching, succession planning, and people development.
• Foster strategic partnerships across COEs, Experience Owners, Product, and Technology teams to ensure cohesive delivery.
• Establish governance frameworks, design standards, and KPIs to elevate platform maturity and delivery quality across the Workday ecosystem.
All About You
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field
• 8+ years of hands-on Workday configuration and integration experience across multiple functional areas
• 2+ years of people management experience, with a strong leadership presence and proven track record of building, leading, and inspiring technical teams
• Deep expertise in Workday Studio, Workday Extend, integration tools, and custom reporting capabilities
• Workday certifications in relevant functional areas (HCM, Integration, Security, or Payroll preferred)
• Highly collaborative and adaptable mindset with comfort navigating ambiguity and changing priorities
• Analytical problem-solving approach with attention to detail and quality and a commitment to continuous learning, staying current with Workday platform evolution
• Knowledge of HR and Finance business processes and industry best practices
• Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle Workday implementations or major system upgrades
