Title and Summary

Lead Platform Engineer (Ceph Storage)  Overview
Mastercard is searching for a Lead Platform Engineer to join our rapidly growing Software Defined Storage team.

The objective of Software Defined Storage is to utilize cloud native architecture to transform how our storage platform (Block, File, and Object) is distributed to and consumed by our clients within our internal cloud platforms. The ideal candidate would be an experienced Platform Engineer and Unix System Administrator with knowledge in Software Defined Storage architecture (Ceph, Commvault).

Role
Manages and maintains Mastercard's platforms by leading day-to-day building, maintaining, and monitoring of system and platform technologies
• Serves as a point of escalation, resolving problems of diverse scopes where analysis of the situation requires in-depth technical evaluation and judgement
• Participates in the planning and implementation of system/platform updates to optimize performance, efficiency, and capacity
• Supports process improvement efforts to identify and test opportunities for automation and/or reduction in time to deployment
• Performs security posture, which includes proactively identifying security risks and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions
• Mentors junior staff by providing training to develop technical skills and capabilities across the team

All About You
• Experience building collaborative working relationships with stakeholders across development verticals to support technology projects and initiatives
• Experience leading efforts to optimize design, technology, regulatory and/or process standards by leveraging innovative tools and technologies and gaining exposure to industry trends
• Experience developing and delivering training for fellow employees/technical talent
• Experience coaching and mentoring others on technical issues
• Experience setting priorities, objectives, and driving deliverables within own teams aligned with strategic objectives to a global technology domain
• Experience leading a major work stream or multiple smaller work streams for a large technology initiative, often providing technical guidance and advice to project team members
• Experience teaming with other technical experts to resolve/ anticipate issues and implement impactful solutions
• Act as a subject matter expert and active participant in global technical communities (e.g., Tech Leadership Network, Architect Guild)
• Experience engaging in vendor selection and maintenance of vendor relationships, understanding technology roadmaps for specific hardware and software and how it impacts scope of vendor services
• Experience managing process adoption and communication for ITSM, incidents, and changes within a team and and the risk, issues and dependencies. In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. Arlington, Virginia: $112,000 - $187,000 USD O'Fallon, Missouri: $97,000 - $163,000 USD
