Title and Summary
Manager, Accounting Overview:Serves as a key contact with respect to accounting, financial reporting and internal control for Mastercard's Corporate Treasury department. This individual serves as an advisor and liaison between controllership, treasury, tax, legal and shared services departments.
Role:
• Advise on accounting-related matters for transactions and activities of varying complexity managed by Corporate Treasury, including but not limited to derivatives and hedging, investments, debt, equity, and foreign currency, while maintaining a strong internal control environment. May manage or lead large cross-functional projects.
• Prepare technical accounting assessments, including clearly documenting interpretations of accounting guidance and conclusions reached. May lead discussions with senior management in periodic and/or ad-hoc meetings.
• Serve as a first point of escalation for internal control matters and provide consultation on internal control activities.
• Implement initiatives to strengthen existing controls and optimize business processes. May highlight potential exposures for communication to leadership.
• Interface with external auditors regarding the application of U.S. GAAP to certain transactions and matters.
• Execute monthly/quarterly SOX controls to ensure complete/accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare key materials used by executive management to present quarterly earnings results.
• Review SEC reporting footnotes and disclosures involving activities of Corporate Treasury to ensure completeness and accuracy and adherence to U.S. GAAP
All About You:
• Bachelor degree or Master's in Accounting
• CPA required
• Senior Associate/Manager or equivalent experience at a public accounting firm or similar technical accounting experience in a large public company
• Derivative and hedge accounting experience preferred
• Strong project management skills with the ability to collaborate with different individuals across the organization to influence, train, mentor and leverage the skills of others to achieve objectives
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills with emphasis on building strong, long-term relationships worldwide across varying geographies and functions
• Self-motivated with ability to meet project deliverables
