Title and Summary

Manager, Data Stewardship, Data Management Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Data Stewardship to join our Data Governance Team. You will be responsible for promoting and ensuring data stewardship and understanding of our policy and standards across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of data governance principles, data management best practices, and a passion for enhancing data stewardship initiatives.
This role will be reporting to the Director, Data Management.
This hybrid position is based in O'Fallon, MO, and requires three onsite days per week.

Role:
• Develop and refine data stewardship strategies aligned to domains and Mastercard's data governance framework.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, implement, and enforce data standards, policies, and procedures.
• Lead and mentor data stewards, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Define and track KPIs to measure the effectiveness of stewardship initiatives.
• Conduct regular assessments of data management practices, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to leadership and stakeholders on data governance and stewardship.
• Facilitate and participate in training programs to strengthen data stewardship awareness across the organization.
• Act as a data-driven change agent, influencing teams and advocating for the importance of data governance throughout the organization.

All about You:
• Proven experience in data governance, data stewardship, or data management, with a track record of leading teams and initiatives that drive measurable business impact.
• Strong understanding of data management methodologies, data quality frameworks, and data privacy regulations.
• Experience in developing and executing data stewardship strategies that align with organizational objectives and promote a culture of accountability.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Knowledge of organizational change management as it relates to data governance initiatives, including coaching and mentoring teams.
• Familiarity with data governance tools, data catalogs, and lineage tools is a plus.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to balance strategic initiatives with tactical, hands-on work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Highly motivated self-starter who can produce measurable business results while fostering a strong data stewardship culture.
• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; candidates with other degrees and substantial relevant experience will also be considered.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.

Pay Ranges

O'Fallon, Missouri: $119,000 - $190,000 USD
