PMT, Product Development – Network Solutions

Overview
• The Network Products team oversees Mastercard's NextGen Network initiatives.
• The Network Solutions program leverages Mastercard's classic switch, the new Nextgen switch and the Mastercard Edge Platform (“edge everywhere, run anywhere”) to build new services and generate new sources of revenues.
• This position will join a Product Development team of Product owners and PMT's to deliver on the Nextgen switch for the Access domain of the program in partnership with the cross-functional global stakeholders: Product Management, Engineering, Customer delivery, Support chain community, Product Operations.

Role
• Exhibits advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle and established programming techniques to continuously drive the selection of languages best suited for the architecture of a system/ application
• Integrates business applications at an enterprise level using third-party middleware or by designing and implementing custom interfaces and mapping for those interfaces
• Leads efforts to define application integration requirements; responsible for deployment, planning and execution of multi-tier application integration initiatives.
• Demonstrate end-to-end ownership and partner with Product Management and Engineering teams to design, develop and deliver scalable products for commercialization, ensuring the build effort concludes on time and budget, enabling a go-to-market plan focused on ease of delivery and great customer experience.
• Ensure the integrity and consistency of the delivery of the vision across all products: capabilities, scalability, performance, speed-to-market, readiness for growth, re-usability.
• Lead by example with hands-on approaches to demonstrate product management excellence and share best practices
• Apply logic, reasoning, and sound decision-making skills to elaborate solutions with Engineering teams.
• Elaborate the concepts and achieve clarity of thought about what will ultimately be built.
• Detail the epics, participate to the definition of the flows and interfaces for the product, perform joint solution design with Engineering teams, structure the roadmap and propose phasing of the delivery, prioritize the backlog, define the acceptance criteria, accept the features.
• Ensure that the artifacts needed by our internal and external customers are produced with consistency, quality and care: sequence diagrams, capability training decks for product management, API specifications, content to be inserted in product guide, …
• Fully understand the functionality, architecture, dependencies, and runtime properties of the systems supporting the products.
• Demonstrate project management capabilities to elaborate a joint delivery plan with the multiple squads participating to the delivery, from switch and edge.

Major Accountabilities
(Accountabilities will include some but not necessarily all depending upon specific role):
• Provide technical analysis of product or application hardware and software to ensure that business and functional requirements can be met
• Builds the backlog of features and stories
• Provide technical support to Business Owners during implementation of new products/services
• Provide subject matter expertise for support escalations
• Prioritize and identify cross application/system enhancements
• Determine development impacts to current processing and work with programmers and users to ensure accuracy of enhancements
• Produce technical documentation
• Lead review sessions of technical requirements
• Manage defect resolution process

All About You
• Fluent in English
• More than 5 years product development experience, according to Agile delivery methodologies
• Consulting mindset and requirements gathering: experience in elaborating requirements into features, designing solutions, understanding systems capabilities and limitations by executing on features and enhancements
• Problem solving and pragmatic mindset, analytical skills, attention to documentation.
• Experience in structuring a product roadmap, engaging with multiple product and engineering stakeholders to advocate, articulate, ensure buy-in, and secure dependencies.
• Good knowledge of authorization and clearing processes, and of ISO 8583 and ISO 200022 messaging.
• Experience in defining requirements for an event-driven application
• Excellent oral and written communication and organization skills.
• Be able to forge a path forward by navigating the constraints and the complexity of the ecosystem to leverage. Tenacity, exploration, analysis.
• Like to dive deep into the operational characteristics of the product
• Accountability, sense of urgency, care, passion for the domain.
• Be capable of understanding, documenting and communicating the solution to the customers and other stakeholders. Once the requirements are gathered and analyzed, the architects and engineers will come up with the ultimate solution, and the ideal candidate for this role will be capable of understanding and communicating this solution to a wide and varied audience.
• Be curious. Often customers think they know what they need, but in reality, often they don't. Being curious enough to keep talking to the customer, and to keep asking questions until you truly understand what they “need” rather than just what they say they “want”, will be a key part of the success criteria for this role. Also, be curious enough to understand the end to end flow of a business process.
