Overview

The Mastercard Payment Services team is looking for a Senior Developer to help design and build secure, scalable, and high-performing systems. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about modern software development, including event-driven architectures, Java Spring Boot, and JSON web services. You will contribute to mission-critical applications, support junior team members, and collaborate across virtual teams to drive quality and efficiency in every release.

Role

As a Senior Developer, you will:

Design and implement scalable software using Java Spring Boot, following best practices for performance and maintainability.
Develop secure and reliable JSON-based RESTful web services to support internal and external-facing applications.
Build systems following event-driven design principles, ensuring modularity and responsiveness.
Contribute to cloud-native development using Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) or similar platforms.
Apply Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD) and ensure a high standard of test coverage and quality.
Collaborate with a virtual team of engineers, architects, and product owners across global locations.
Mentor junior developers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.

All About You -

The ideal candidate for this position should:
Be proficient in Java Spring Boot and capable of developing secure, maintainable RESTful JSON web services.
Have hands-on experience with event-driven systems, ideally using Axon Framework.
Understand and apply ATDD principles with a strong focus on automated testing and CI/CD practices.
Be comfortable working in a cloud-native environment, particularly using Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).
Thrive in a virtual team environment, demonstrating initiative, ownership, and clear communication.
Show a genuine interest in supporting and mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Desirable capabilities:

Experience with Axon for event sourcing and CQRS-based systems.
Familiarity with secure coding standards and enterprise integration patterns.
Exposure to agile development methodologies and DevOps tooling.
Background in the financial services or payments industry is a plus.
