Title and Summary
Senior Software Engineer OverviewMastercard Payment Gateway Service (MPGS) is on the lookout for a passionate and innovative Fullstack Software Engineer with strong experience in React, Spring Boot and/or Angular. As part of our agile and dynamic team, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining cutting-edge customer-facing solutions that are both scalable and secure. We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic about creating exceptional user experiences and driving the future of digital payments. All while being passionate about delivering high-quality and highly extensible software. While being an expert in front end development, a strong understanding and experience in build back end applications is necessary or the vice versa.
Responsibilities
• Participate in team prioritization discussions with Product/Business stakeholders
• Estimate and own delivery tasks (design, dev, test, deployment, configuration, documentation) to meet the business requirements
• Automate build, operate, and run aspects of software
• Drive code/design/process trade-off discussions within their team when required
• Report status and manage risks within their primary application/service
• Drive integration of services focusing on customer journey and experience
• Perform demos/acceptance discussions in interacting with Product owners
• Understands operational and engineering experience, actively works to improve experience and metrics in ownership area
• Develop complete understanding of end-to-end technical architecture and dependency systems
• Drive adoption of technology standards and opinionated frameworks, and review coding, test, and automation work of team members
• Mentor and guide new and less-experienced team members
• Identify opportunities to improve an overall process and trim waste
• Share and seek knowledge within their Guild/Program to drive reuse of patterns/libraries/practices and enhance productivity
Education (preferred):
Bachelor's degree Computer Science (or related discipline)
And or 7+ years of experience in software industry
Knowledge and Experience:
Front end:
• 5+ years professional, hands-on, frontend application development experience
• Demonstrable experience in building interactive web applications with polished, good looking, consistent, responsive and accessible UI/UX
• Expert React ES6 Javascript and Typescript skills including areas of functional and asynchronous programming
• Experience in global state management frameworks like redux or similar within React ecosystem
• Expert HTML, CSS development knowledge and experience with both native and using frameworks
• Experience in developing and maintaining component design systems
• Strong working knowledge of Node.js, NPM, Webpack and Jest
Back end:
• Strong fundamentals of working with APIs using Spring and Spring boot
• Strong experience in building RESTful web services and other Java APIs
• Strong experience in writing testing using Junit and related frameworks to ensure high quality
• You care about the technical architecture and design - ensuring that the solution is flexibly designed and performs efficiently
• Solid SQL development knowledge (i.e. PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc…) and delivering solutions that leverage them at a massive scale
• Experience in developing asynchronous or event driven applications using Apache Kafka is distinct advantage.
SDLC / DevOps:
• Strong understanding of version control tools especially git
• Strong understanding in agile methodologies, SAFe frameworks and related tools like Rally, Jira, Confluence etc
• Strong understanding on continuous integration and deployment concepts and tools to create, manage and run pipelines using Jenkins
• Understands customer journeys and ensure a Mastercard good experience by continuously reducing Mean time to mitigate (MTTM) for incidents and ensuring high availability (99.95% as a starting point)
• Experienced working in an Agile environment with a global team that makes frequent production releases
• Exposure to application performance monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk desirable.
