Title and Summary

Senior Software Engineer We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join Mastercard's AWS Platform Engineering Team. This role is critical in designing, building, and maintaining a scalable, secure, and highly available cloud platform on AWS. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal platform performance, cost efficiency, and alignment with best practices.

The ideal candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of AWS services, DevOps practices, and infrastructure automation and to focus on enabling application teams to deliver value rapidly and securely.

The Role
• Design, implement, and maintain a scalable multi-account AWS platform, leveraging services like AWS Organizations, EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, MSK, VPC, IAM, etc.
• Develop and manage Cloud infrastructure through IaaC.
• Manage secure connectivity using technologies like AWS PrivateLink, Transit Gateway, and Direct Connect.
• Implement and maintain secure access controls and guardrails using AWS Control Tower, Service Control Policies (SCPs), and IAM.
• Engage and improve the lifecycle of the AWS platform and services -- from development to deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Develop Scalable and Reliable Systems through Automations.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortem.
• Ability to lead architecture discussions, conduct code reviews, and foster a collaborative engineering culture


All About You
• 3+ years of experience in AWS cloud engineering or similar roles.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and experience applying them in languages like Python, TypeScript, and Java.
• Fluent in AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
• Experience with CI/CD tools like AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, BitBucket/GitHub, Artifactory, Sonarqube, etc.
• Strong knowledge of the best practices around Logging, Monitoring, and Alerting solutions.
• Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale systems.
• Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
• Systematic problem-solving approach, with effective communication skills and a sense of drive.
• Knowledge of security best practices and frameworks. In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.

New York City, New York: $138,000 - $221,000 USD
