Title and Summary
Specialist, Legal Services - Paralegal (4 - month Contract) About UsMastercard is a leader in the payments and financial technology sector, providing secure, innovative, and compliant solutions to clients around the world. We are seeking a highly organized Paralegal with a strong background in payments, fintech, or financial services to support our legal and compliance teams. This role is perfect for someone who can navigate complex regulations, manage fast-moving commercial agreements, and thrive in a rapidly evolving industry.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including merchant services agreements, vendor contracts, and partnership deals.
Conduct legal research on payments regulations, card network rules, AML/KYC obligations, and data privacy laws.
Maintain corporate records and assist with regulatory filings or license applications.
Monitor regulatory changes affecting payments and fintech operations in relevant jurisdictions.
Manage and organize legal files, contract databases, and compliance documentation.
Coordinate with external counsel, regulators, and internal business units to ensure alignment on legal and regulatory issues.
Assist in preparing board materials, policies, entity management materials and training materials on legal/compliance topics.
Qualifications
Required:
Associate's or Bachelor's law degree, or equivalent paralegal experience.
Paralegal certification (or ability to obtain within [X] months).
Minimum 2 years' experience as a paralegal
Strong legal research skills and familiarity with relevant laws and regulations.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and contract management tools.
Preferred:
Experience with multi-jurisdictional compliance.
Knowledge of data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and cybersecurity standards.
Previous in-house legal experience at a payments or fintech company or in banking and finance at a law firm.
Language Skills
Native or fluent proficiency in English (spoken and written) required. Additional knowledge of Arabic and/or French would be of great value.
