Title and Summary

Vice President, Software Engineering Overview
STRM program dedicated collection of self-organizing, high performing, interdependent, co-located individuals representing different functional roles with all the necessary skills to create the foundational capabilities that application teams develop on top of it. This team leads with mission to provide overall stewardship of enterprise grade application architecture & design within the context of holistic software development. This includes driving the architecture & design decisions and building consensus around it.
• We are building a team of talented engineers to work on new and exciting products. The team is cross-functional, which means that between all its members they possess sufficient skills to do the work. There is no dictated leadership hierarchy within the team members.
• Vice President of Software Engineering at MasterCard is a high performing people leader within the organization and spearheads the architecture or framework implementations. Additionally, he or she influences the development practices so that they follow best practices, policies and procedures.

• Vice President will design, develop and implement solutions that integrate with existing tooling and evaluate real time threat management, advance vulnerability management solutions from various vendors or roll out own engineering solutions. Vice President will also play an important role in contributing to future strategic roadmap of Security solutions and enhancements.
• This role will partner with the Corporate Security Product team to ensure solution designs are in alignment with Mastercard's direction for securing and protecting Mastercard assets against internal and external threats.

Role
• Ability to demonstrate a broad awareness of security engineering concepts and practices across all phases of the software development lifecycle
• Proven ability to architect, design and develop complex security solutions that are enterprise grade – highly available, resilient, scalable and “always on”
• Proven expert experience designing, developing and implementing low level solutions in vulnerability management, Security event management, Threat management and other security solutions
• Expert experience implementing solutions with Software engineering mindset and have player/coach approach when leading the teams.
• Subject matter expert in Secure SDLC - including areas such as encryption, hashing, key management, and certificate management - TLS, PKCS#11
• Experience designing and implementing security solutions with industry standard cryptographic algorithms - knowing where, how, when to apply them
• Provide escalated technical support for issues to the software development engineering and operations teams for owned shared security services platforms.
• Drive the creation and maintenance of the strategic technical roadmaps for all owned security service platforms
• Ability to quickly learn and understand current platforms and environments to effectively architect and design new replacement solutions that meet business and technical requirements
• Ability to partner and collaborate with other team architects on solution designs
• Demonstrate the ability to articulate and communicate effectively to diverse audiences and properly translates security and risk management terminology into business terms and recommends alternative solutions to these stakeholders.

Essential Skills
• In-depth knowledge in following areas: Secure SDLC, application security, security engineering, cloud security, threat management, vulnerability management
• Expert to Work on complex enterprise-wide Corporate Security initiatives spanning multiple services/programs and drive resolution
• Expert to execute on defined strategy and ability to articulate it to key stake holders across the organization.
•Drive the architectural design, including dependent services, service interactions, and policies
•Take ownership to improve the customer experience of an entire set of services/applications sold as products or bundled services
• Consult across teams and across organization lines to identify synergies and reuse opportunities
• Conduct technical interviews for hiring engineering leaders, staff and raising the performance bar
• Identify and raise awareness of Silo-ed behaviors within the organization and teams
- Mentor and guide software engineers to improve engineering productivity, quality, and technology policy compliance
• Design and implement a scalable, resilient and highly performant set of security services in Identity and access management space
• Provide guidance to teams on development standards, automation and tools.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and come up with novel ways to solve them.
• Ability to perform Proof of Concepts, ability to quickly code, script and deploy.
• BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in working with fast paced, modern architecture using Java, JavaScript, Spring boot, Redis or similar technologies.
• Solid understanding of security fundamentals in identity and access space.
• Proficiency in Software Development Best Practices (TDD/BDD, Unit test, Continuous Delivery, …)
• Desire to stay abreast of new development technologies and tools.
• Very good inter-personal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Strong communication skills, with an ability to express design ideas to a development team.
• Expert problem solving and analytical skills
• At least 10 years of experience in leading the program consisting of multiple teams. In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
