Role
• Lead teams of 12+ engineers while providing enterprise level strategic direction for GitHub SCM governance, repository architecture, permissions models, and branch protection standards.
• Drive the enterprise strategy for GitHub Actions workflows and runner architectures, ensuring scalable, resilient, secure CI/CD aligned with Security and A&T.
• Advance GitHub Advanced Security (CodeQL, Dependabot, secret scanning) by defining secure by default platform patterns in partnership with Security and embedding them into all CI/CD pathways.
• Champion GitHub Copilot and AI assisted engineering at scale, establishing enterprise AI guardrails, adoption frameworks, and measurable productivity outcomes.
• Oversee the strategy, evolution, and modernization of Groovy based Jenkins pipelines, ensuring alignment with long term GitHub first CI/CD direction and A&T architectural principles.
• Define and automate enterprise CI/CD guardrails to enforce security, compliance, and architectural standards across GitHub and Jenkins ecosystems.
• Model engineering excellence and modern CI/CD practices while shaping organizational engineering standards in partnership with Architecture & Technology.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent, raising organizational capability in GitHub workflows, automation, platform engineering, and secure pipeline patterns.
• Identify strategic reuse, platform consolidation, and efficiency opportunities to streamline developer experience and reduce cross organizational friction.
• Partner with product, Security, A&T, and engineering leadership to define multi-year roadmaps and prioritize investments that maximize enterprise impact.
• Champion Mastercard engineering principles and ensure platform alignment with enterprise architecture, governance, and technology direction.
• Represent the platform in engineering guilds and enterprise communities, influencing standards, architecture, and best practices across Mastercard.
• Define and track enterprise platform metrics measuring reliability, adoption, developer productivity, security posture, and strategic value.
All About You
• 12+ years senior engineering experience, including 5+ years in technical leadership roles guiding teams of 8–12 engineers and operating at enterprise scale.
• Deep engineering expertise with strong fundamentals in architecture, design patterns, reliability, automation, CI/CD strategy, and large scale platform engineering.
• Hands on experience with GitHub SCM, GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security, and building enterprise-wide CI/CD ecosystems.
• Strong knowledge of Groovy-based Jenkins pipelines, reusable shared libraries, and composable pipeline design, with experience modernizing legacy CI/CD tooling.
• SRE-oriented mindset with demonstrated ability to build resilient, observable, automated systems across large engineering organizations.
• Skilled in automation, observability, and platform/infrastructure tooling that improves developer experience and operational excellence.
• Proficient in API/web service design and integration patterns relevant to scalable engineering platforms.
• Experienced in large-scale modernization efforts, driving migrations toward cloud-native, secure, best in class developer platforms aligned with Security and A&T guidance.
• Excellent communicator able to influence senior leadership, simplify complex concepts, and drive cross organizational alignment across engineering, Security, and Architecture & Technology.
• Strong mentor and technical coach with a track record of raising engineering capability through hands on leadership.
• Highly knowledgeable in SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and high velocity delivery models, with proven ability to improve developer productivity and flow.
• Deep understanding of code quality, performance engineering, and developer productivity metrics (e.g., PR cycle time, code churn, commit patterns).
• Proficient in languages such as Java, C#, or similar modern programming languages.
• Experience with AWS/Azure services, IAM, automation patterns, and enterprise cloud security.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes and containerized, ephemeral workload design for CI/CD environments.
• Familiarity with cloud-native observability stacks and infrastructure automation approaches.
