Develops and implements strategy for Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) to support the organization's data-driven, analytics decision-making.  Directs embedded (e.g. Health Information Management Analytics (HIMA), Employer Group Reporting) reporting and analytics teams to ensure appropriate resource allocation and prioritization of work to meet customer needs. Develops and executes a strategic vision for business intelligence and reporting initiatives, aligning them with overall business objectives to drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. Works alongside Data Engineering, Data Platform, and Data Governance teams to design and implement scalable reporting architecture, enhance data accessibility, and drive innovation through the adoption of best-in-class BI tools and technologies. 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures business priorities and Information Management/BI technical capabilities (development resources) and QA activities are aligned through prioritization-management and effective communications. Conducts gap analyses with the team to identify solutions that are cost-effective and meet business requirements. Provides day-to-day support, triaging, and remediation of issues for existing analytic product developments. 
  • Develops and executes a strategic vision for the organization's business intelligence and reporting initiatives, aligning them with overall business objectives. Drives data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization. 
  • Captures business needs, value proposition, processes, requirements, use cases, and related documentation and specifications to deliver analytic solutions that meet the Stakeholder's priorities and business requirements. 
  • Organizes multiple EBI teams that support various federated internal analytical and reporting teams
  • Leads Business Intelligence Managers and their reporting analyst staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment, providing mentorship and guidance that encourages innovation and professional growth. 
  • Oversees creation of interactive and insightful data visualizations and dashboards that cater to the needs of various business units and senior leadership. Provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior executives and department heads based on data analysis and business intelligence reports
  • Establishes the frameworks, templates and standards for all reporting and analytics teams. Ensures enterprise and federated teams leverage enterprise processes and platforms including intake process for BI requests, Code Review, collaboration with Data Governance, Training and Workshops, Documentation Standards, Performance Monitoring, Collaborative Development, Best Practices Sharing, Project Management and Feedback Loop. 
  • Evaluates and implements best-in-class business intelligence tools and technologies to enhance data accessibility and analysis capabilities. Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) and tracks the performance of business processes to identify areas for improvement. 
  • Manages work-intake, prioritization of working backlog list, capacity for effort, and time/effort estimates in tandem with the Data Engineering, Data Platform and Data Governance teams.  
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with key stakeholders, such as clinical operations, clinical quality, provider engagement, specialty. 
  • Ensures data governance best practices are adopted and followed, and data quality is preserved across the enterprise reporting environment. Leads the effort to upskill EBI and federated internal teams in BI tools and transformation of existing analytics workforce from legacy systems to modern, cloud analytics tools 
  • Integrates closely with Data Engineering on priorities and roadmaps to ensure that there is alignment with the priorities of the federated analytics teams to prevent duplication of effort or misalignment of priorities.  
  • Stays updated with the latest trends and advancements in business intelligence, reporting tools, and data analytics, driving innovation within the team. Identifies opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvements – including machine learning and artificial intelligence. Ensures enterprise and federated teams are continually learning and adopt these skill sets.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business analytics, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Equivalent education and experience directly related to the role may substitute for a degree.
  • 8-10 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.

Professional Certification(s):

  • Certified Microsoft Power BI or Certified Databricks Analyst Associate preferred.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • In depth knowledge of business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, data visualization, and data warehousing concepts. Strategic understanding of data analytics, reporting, and data integration technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of design principles and an eye for aesthetics and visual storytelling.
  • Proficiency in data modeling techniques and advanced analytics to derive actionable insights.
  • Understanding of data governance policies, data quality management, and security protocols.
