Summary:

 

MedStar Medical Group is seeking a highly organized and service-oriented Surgical Scheduling Coordinator to support the transition of GYN Oncology services into Integrated Support Services (ISS) at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. This role is critical to ensuring seamless coordination of elective surgical procedures while balancing surgeon preferences, patient needs, and operating room resources. 

 

As a frontline liaison between physician offices and perioperative services, the ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced clinical environment.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedules and coordinates all elective surgical procedures, ensuring alignment with surgeon preferences, patient needs, and available perioperative resources

  • Serves as the primary liaison between physician offices and perioperative services, providing clear communication and exceptional customer service

  • Maintains accurate daily OR schedules, verifies case details (procedures, times, provider availability, equipment, documentation), and communicates schedule changes as needed

  • Supports operational efficiency through preference card maintenance, report generation, data accuracy, and responsible use of departmental resources

  • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental activities while maintaining patient and associate confidentiality

Minimal Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology required

  • 1–2 years of experience required

  • Minimum of 1 year in an operating room or surgical office setting


This position has a hiring range of

USD $18.70 - USD $32.72 /Hr.
