General Summary of Position
MedStar Health is looking for an Overdose Survivor's Coach. The Overdose Survivor's Outreach Program (OSOP) Community Recovery Coach is an integral part of the SBIRT team that is designated to conduct outreach and engagement to survivors of an opioid overdose after discharge and referral from the emergency department. Provides non-clinical services intended to aid patients in establishing recovery and reducing the risk associated with a subsequent overdose. Assists in completing referrals to recovery support and substance use treatment services as well as develops service plans to promote successful linkage to referred services. These functions are performed in accordance all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Primary Duties:
- Conduct street outreach and engage individuals referred from hospital emergency departments, building rapport and assessing recovery, treatment, and social service needs.
- Utilize motivational interviewing and recovery coaching techniques to support behavior change, establish individualized recovery goals, and encourage long-term wellness.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and community organizations to connect patients with treatment programs, recovery resources, transportation, and other essential support services.
- Provide ongoing peer recovery support to patients and families through hospital discharge and into the community, offering education, advocacy, and overdose prevention resources, including naloxone training.
- Maintain accurate documentation, complete required reports, and ensure compliance with organizational policies while supporting positive patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 1-2 years actively in recovery with a minimum of two years of professional experience in a substance use disorder setting providing peer support/navigation (Required) OR
- Certified peer specialist through the DC Department of Behavioral Health, or recovery coach (Required) or attained within 180 days
- Recovery Coach (Required)
- Drivers License and reliable transportation required
This position has a hiring range of
USD $19.55 - USD $34.25 /Hr.
