MedStar Health is looking for a Program Coordinator to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital!
The Program Coordinator for the Colorectal Surgery Department plays a key role in advancing quality, safety, and excellence in patient care across the MedStar Health system. This position coordinates departmental programs and quality initiatives, manages projects, and ensures compliance with established protocols and documentation standards. The coordinator collaborates with multidisciplinary partners—including Risk Management, Research, Education, and Human Factors teams—to drive continuous improvement in patient outcomes and clinical operations. A core responsibility includes supporting and optimizing MedStar's Patient Safety Event Management System (PSEMS), serving as a resource for associates and leaders across hospital and outpatient settings. Primary Duties:
- Provides administrative and project support to the Assistant Vice President and Quality & Safety leadership team, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and preparation of reports and presentations.
- Coordinates data collection, analysis, and documentation for quality and patient safety initiatives using clinical and research databases such as Vizient, patient safety reporting systems, and satisfaction surveys.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and tracking of quality and safety projects, forms, surveys, and process improvement tools.
- Maintains accurate and confidential project records; attends designated meetings, takes minutes, and ensures timely follow-up on action items.
- Supports utilization, training, and optimization of the RL Datix event reporting system; provides user assistance and collaborates with entity content coordinators and leadership to enhance reporting accuracy.
- Contributes to recognition and communication efforts, including management of the Good Catch Award program and support for the annual HeRO Award luncheon.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
- Experience: 3–4 years of experience in a healthcare setting required; experience with event reporting systems preferred.
- Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong time management, communication, and writing skills.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Competencies: Ability to analyze complex quality and safety issues, apply sound judgment, and implement effective solutions both independently and collaboratively.
This position has a hiring range of
USD $65,062.00 - USD $117,291.00 /Yr.
