Pulmonary Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
The well-established Pulmonary Division at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center is seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our collaborative pulmonary care team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an APP seeking a diverse pulmonary medicine practice that combines inpatient consultation, outpatient care, and procedural experience. Working closely with two experienced pulmonary physicians, the APP will care for a broad range of pulmonary conditions while enjoying a highly desirable weekday schedule with no weekends, evenings, or major holidays.
Position SummaryThe APP will practice in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing comprehensive pulmonary care in collaboration with our physicians while also developing opportunities for independent practice. Dedicated pulmonary-specific education and training will be provided before transitioning to independent patient management.
Inpatient Pulmonary CareWorking alongside the attending physician on the pulmonary consultation service at our community hospital, the APP will:
- Evaluate new and follow-up pulmonary consults, develop diagnoses, order appropriate testing, and contribute to treatment plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and multidisciplinary care teams to coordinate comprehensive pulmonary care and transitions to outpatient follow-up.
- Participate in pulmonary procedures including chest ultrasound, thoracentesis, chest tube placement and management, intrapleural thrombolytic administration, bronchoscopy/EBUS, and catheter management.
Our outpatient pulmonary clinic is conveniently located within MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. The APP will work primarily alongside the attending physician while also seeing patients independently.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluate and manage new and follow-up patients with conditions including COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary infections, pleural disease, lung nodules, and lung cancer.
- Provide focused care for lung cancer screening and smoking cessation.
- Order and manage appropriate pulmonary testing, imaging, medications, and therapies.
- Participate in outpatient pulmonary procedures, including bronchoscopy, as appropriate.
- Collaborate with physicians and clinic staff to coordinate ongoing patient care and follow-up.
- Day shift only
- 4 to 5 days per week with flexibility in choosing a weekday off
- No weekends, evenings, or major holidays
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program
- Current NCCPA certification for Physician Assistants or appropriate Acute Care Nurse Practitioner board certification
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Prior inpatient or outpatient clinical experience preferred; no new graduates.

USD $115,000.00 - USD $190,000.00 /Yr.
