About the Job

General Summary of Position
Provides oversight to MedStar Institute for Innovation project management, business strategy and analytics, and communications, and other team contributions. Oversees the planning and execution of MedStar Institute for Innovation strategic projects and performance improvement initiatives. Responsible for overall business intelligence on assigned strategic/innovation initiatives' operating performance; progress on operating goals and strategic plans; communication and change management; and execution of projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Builds, develops, and grows business relationships (both internal and external to MedStar Health) vital to the success of MedStar Institute for Innovation.
  • Develops department and group priorities and short and long-term goals. Directs, coordinates, and oversees assigned leaders and associates to ensure that the mission is achieved.
  • Directs Project Management, Communications and Change Management, and Business Strategy and Analytics team contributions. Recruits, hires and manages staff in these areas. Provides training, performance appraisal, disciplinary counseling and actions, scheduling, and work assignments.
  • Formulates a vision and operating plan for the Operations group consistent with MedStar Institute for Innovation and MedStar Health priorities. Works collaboratively with other MedStar Health senior leaders to communicate and integrate operational plans and strategies.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, training, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in application domains.
  • Oversees communication strategy outreach and change management functions for assigned strategic/innovation initiatives. In collaboration with MedStar Health senior leaders MedStar Institute for Innovation leadership and MedStar Health marketing and communications develops and executes a communication strategy that incorporates multiple media to communicate core and ongoing messages to further the understanding of assigned strategic/innovation initiatives to internal (MedStar Health) and external audiences. Develops materials and tools to help MedStar Health associates and leaders to have consistent messaging regarding services, processes and successes of assigned strategic/innovation initiatives.
  • Oversees MedStar Institute for Innovation project management functions. Develops and executes strategies to scope, plan, manage and close the diverse portfolio of projects undertaken by MedStar Institute for Innovation each year. Maintains effective relationships and collaborations with other project management professionals across MedStar Health. Creates a shared vision for project management and processes amongst MedStar Institute for Innovation senior leaders, managers, associates and external stakeholders. Develops, executes and maintains processes to gather, analyze and report on project status to give visibility to MedStar Health senior leadership.
  • Oversees operational excellence for assigned strategic/innovation initiatives. Develops and executes strategy to gather and analyze performance data from related system operating units. Creates deep understanding of performance at all levels of the organization through publishing metrics, visualizations, presentations and other means. Identifies and recommends to MedStar Health executive leadership areas that could benefit from performance or process optimization. Supports and monitors optimization across assigned strategic/innovation initiatives and where necessary leads those activities.
  • Proactively manages threats and risks to assigned strategic/innovation initiatives' operations projects and stakeholder relationships. Works collaboratively with MedStar Health senior leaders to identify and manage risks.
  • Provides routine oversight of the project management, operational excellence, communications, change management and business strategy processes throughout all assigned strategic/innovation initiatives and related operating units.
  • Serves as a liaison to senior MedStar Health leaders and represents MedStar Institute for Innovation in projects critical to MedStar Health operations.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
  • Master's degree in relevant field preferred

Experience

  • 8-10 years Experience in project or program management roles with progressive levels of responsibility and a history of managing large enterprise initiatives required 
  • 10+ years Progressively more responsible job-related experience required 
  • 5-7 years Experience in training - preferably in a healthcare or related setting required 
  • 1-2 years Experience working in a training delivery organization at a position of senior responsibility required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification preferred 
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (SIXSIGBB) Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt certification preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $134,118.00 - USD $265,616.00 /Yr.
