About the Job

Calling all early nursing students!  If you are slated to graduate in December 2027 – we would love to introduce you to our Student Nursing Assistant (SNA) role.

Our SNA role has been created to complement your nursing program. The role of the SNA is to provide direct hands-on tech-focused experience while growing in your skills and confidence.  Under the direction of an RN, you will assist the care team with daily tasks from formulating, implementing, and organizing care interventions for a group of patients to provide a safe and efficient environment.  You will also assist with preparing patients for transfer or discharge.  Hands-on care will focus on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and personal hygiene, as well as patient mobilization and rehabilitation.  Basic procedures such as simple dressing changes and wound care, urinary catheter care, perineal care, specimen collection, and performing EKGs will be reinforced in this role.

Working from the Float Pool (rotating unit placements), SNAs will enhance and diversify their clinical experience, providing an opportunity to move into a Student Nurse Extern role during the senior year/last semester of nursing school.

License/Certification Requirement

  • A valid CNA license with the Maryland Board of Nursing is required
  • BLS certification is required at time of hire.

Education/Training:  Active enrollment as a nursing student who has successfully completed Fundamentals of Nursing (or the equivalent) in an accredited nursing program.

Start dates:  Orientation will be offered through the summer on various dates to align with New Hire/Clinical Orientation sessions.  Start dates being offered will include June 1st / June 15th / July 6th.

Pay rate:  $18.77 per hour

Status:  Per Diem

  • New Hire/Clinical Orientation will be completed Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm.
  • To successfully acclimate into the role and build the confidence to function independently, you should plan on working at least two 12-hour shifts per week.  *The more hours you can work, the better your experience will be.
    • Unit-based orientation will be scheduled in coordination with your leader.
    • You are permitted to work up to full-time hours (36 hours per week) over the summer, if desired.
  • Once new hire orientation and competencies have been completed, this position will require a minimum of 24 hours over the course of a six-week schedule.

Once the fall semester begins, flexible scheduling of just 24 hours (two 12-hour shifts) per six-week schedule will be required.
