General Summary of Position
Manages patient transportation operations for designated areas or shift. Prepares coordinates and implements operation plans; coordinates staff activities; and interacts regularly with nursing units and ancillary departments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings with subordinates to communicate departmental standards priorities and to address any operational concerns of associates.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between the customer and the departments to ensure all customer service and quality expectations are addressed.
  • Observes competency punctuality neatness initiative dependability cooperatives etc. and evaluates counsels and disciplines staff.
  • Understands and applies knowledge of basic patient transport concepts infection control practices and proper body mechanics.
  • Understands and is able to determine explain and develop dispatcher logic and transporter activities; monitors and supervises dispatcher activity; acts as a Transporter and dispatcher when necessary.
  • Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures that department operates within budget. Prepares coordinates and implements operations plan reports on objectives and special requirements and estimates budgetary requirements for equipment supplies and staff for area of responsibility. Reviews plans and coordinates staffing schedule with departmental peers.
  • Monitors and adjusts staffing patterns and schedules to accommodate both planned and unexpected alternation in workload and/or resource availability.
  • Develops department goals objectives policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations. Reviews request for service to assure tasks are handled in the most efficient manner considering the available resources of Monitors work performance to assure completion of all tasks with emphasis on safety customer service efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Drives quality and continuously improves departmental performance through working smarter efforts including effective problem identification and analysis making recommendations and resolving issues appropriately. Continuously monitors response times and associate productivity.
  • Ensures that necessary upgrades/maintenance occur to Capacity Management & throughput systems. Participates in capacity user groups to bring back latest enhancements and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Instructs orients and trains associates in all aspects of their work. Ensures that all appropriate personnel have access to adequate equipment and supplies to complete their assigned work.
  • Maintains current knowledge of technical and business developments and communicates relevant information to the work group.
  • Manages wheelchairs beds and stretchers to hospital polices and standards.
  • Oversees patient transport team leads and ensures that transport trip times remain within target range.
  • Participates in meetings serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Minimal Qualifications
    Education
    • Associate's degree with business courses preferred
    Experience
    • Less than 1 year Experience in comparable position preferably in health care setting required and
    • Less than 1 year supervisory experience preferred and
    • Less than 1 year Experience working in a healthcare environment. preferred

    This position has a hiring range of

    USD $20.57 - USD $36.27 /Hr.
