General Summary of Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a key member of the interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered acute nursing care to individuals with a variety of medical issues or who are preparing for or recovering from surgery. The LPN as a collaborative team member in partnership with and under the supervision of the registered nurse.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing. required
Experience
- Must be quantifiable (i.e. minimum of one (1) year experience within a Rehabilitation or acute setting).
- New graduates considered based on student clinical experiences
Licenses and Certifications
- LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure in the District of Columbia required
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
- Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
- Knowledge of examinations, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Knowledge of medications and their effect on patients.
- Ability to calculate dosages as needed.
- Skill in administering a variety of treatments and medication, as directed.
- Ability to take vital signs and maintain records Computer skills and aptitude, and prefer previous experience with EHR systems.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
- Good interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patient, medical staff, and the public.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
This position has a hiring range of $23.33 - $37.82
