General Summary of Position
Plans, organizes, and provides leadership to management for daily operational responsibility in Patient Financial Services in billing and collections for multi hospital patient financial services.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as Compliance Director for the PFS and maintains third party regulatory billing and filing requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications with internal management and staff as well as external customers and executive management.
  • Interacts with the Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) identifying revenue cycle opportunities and developing and implementing process improvement.
  • Maintains relationships with key stakeholders within each business unit, reviewing monthly performance as it relates to revenue cycle processing to include medical records, case management, access management.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of daily operations to the patient financial services area for all of the MedStar Health business units.
  • Provides leadership to implementation teams for major revenue cycle projects. Participates on other committees as requested.
  • Maintains accounts receivable performance GDRO goals for the MedStar Health hospitals.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting and analysis of AR performance.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures. Continually reviews and modifies systems and data collections for maximum cash reimbursement.
  • Reviews for CFOs and makes monthly recommendations for adjustments to the bad debt and contractual allowance reserves.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. required

    Experience

    • Minimum 10 years financial management experience in hospital accounts receivable setting with a primary emphasis in third party payer requirements, HSCRC requirements and PPS regulations. required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Certified Patient Account Mgr - CPAM Certified Patient Account Manager Upon Hire required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Detailed working knowledge of HSCRC requirements and PPS regulations.
    • Basic computer skills
