General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is seeking a Cashier to join the Patient Accounting Cashier Services department at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital.  The ideal candidate will be trustworthy and reliable as well as have experience in cash handling and payment processing.

Job Summary - Possessing excellent customer service skills, interacts with the patient population on a daily basis along with internal customers at the facility. Receives, reviews and posts patient payments for MedStar Health entities, ensuring accuracy in the posting of the receipts, payments and contractual allowances. Payments must be processed within 24 hours of deposit.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
Education

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required

Experience

• 1-2 years' experience in field required or an equivalent combination of experience and college education in a related field required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Excellent communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficient use of hospital registration and/or billing systems, and Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
• Data entry and 10 key adding machine skills.
• Ability to type 35 WPM.

This position has a hiring range of $17.5 - $28.73
