General Summary of Position
Under the general direction of the Clinical Engineering leadership team, the Clinical Engineering Technician I as an entry-level technician, maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the medical equipment management plan and all medical equipment policies and procedures, and manufacturer or alternative equipment maintenance (AEM) specifications. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, testing, maintenance, calibration and repair of a limited scope of medical equipment and systems.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Associate's degree in biomedical equipment technology, electronics or related field required or
- military training or academic work or actual work experience aligned with AAMI's Core Competencies for the Biomedical Equipment Technician required
Experience
- 1-2 years Experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment and systems, OR similar experience in a technical-related field. required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic electricity/electronics principles. Knowledge of hospital and department procedures and operations.
- Ability to anticipate tasks and prioritize assignments.
- Ability to input data into computer programs.
- Ability to travel between sites as necessary.
- Ability to work with all levels of internal and external customers. Knowledge of basic electricity/electronics principles. Knowledge of hospital and department procedures and operations.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
- Provides hospitable customer service.
- Skilled in the use of basic hand tools and testing equipment.
- Ability to communicate professionally.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory agency's accreditation requirements.
