Description
Manages laboratory informatics team., inclusive of anatomic and clinical pathology-related project involvement system-wide in an effort to enhance quality of care and contain costs. Coordinates with clinical informatics for full integration of all laboratory information systems. Establishes and maintains relationships between system-wide laboratory entities and hospital-based operations to ensure clinical appropriateness of laboratory services. Oversees implementation, support and enhancements for all Laboratory software applications. Oversees the LIS Coordinators and the operational support of all Laboratory applications.
Education
- Bachelor's degree required and
- Master's degree in Business or Informatics preferred
- One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
- Laboratory information systems project planning experience; 5 years management or supervisory experience
- One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
- ASCP - American Society of Clinical Pathologist MT (ASCP) certification preferred
- Strong analytical skills.
- Basic understanding of hospital laboratory operations and ability to apply this knowledge in analyzing operations.
- Basic managerial finance skills and ability to perform financial (cost/benefit) analyses.
- Demonstrated ability to be self directed with excellent organizational, analytical, writing, interpersonal and project management skills in an IS related role is preferred.
- Computer skills are required to be efficient in managing data (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and email programs).
