Description

Designs and oversees the implementation of MedStar Health overall technology strategy as it relates to business strategy and requirements while collaborating closely with stakeholders across the organization. The Director of Enterprise Architect analyzes business needs, defines technology requirements and develops a comprehensive, efficient and scalable architecture. This position establishes, enforces and maintains architectural governance processes and standards to ensure alignment with policies, best practices and regulatory requirements. Requires skills in strategy and planning, problem solving, project management, facilitation, financial modeling, and process modeling. The incumbent possesses demonstrated in-depth experience in networking, servers, cloud computing, virtualization, cybersecurity, storage, voice, and desktop technologies and is expected to stay current with all with industry changes.
Education

  • Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Business Administration or Health Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience required and
  • Master's degree preferred
Experience
  • 10+ years Industry-related experience required and
  • 5-7 years 7 years technical and customer support management required and
  • 5-7 years Project management experience required and
  • End-to-end project lifecycle experience, including business case definition, requirement and architecture through development and implementation expertise required
Licenses and Certifications
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) preferred

  • Defines technical evaluation criteria and standards to participate in product selection.
  • Defines the enterprise technology architecture and sets associated policies and guidelines. Designs, develops, and integrates applications.
  • Designs and plans multiple million-dollar technical infrastructures.
  • Performs and monitors the Rreturn On Iinvestment of proposed strategy and/or solutions. Responsible for the capital budget in excess of $10M.
  • Manages a team of Architect Specialists. Selects, trains, orients, and assigns department staff.
  • Develops performance standards, evaluates performance, and conducts performance management planning.
  • Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains ongoing communication with staff to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments, and exchange information. Coaches, guides, and mentors technical staff members. Provides leadership by example.
  • Understands emerging technologies. Understand the competitive and regulatory climate of the industry.
  • Understands existing systems and technology. Understands business practices and approaches. Documents current and upcoming business strategies and requirements and aligns them with technology design, solutions, and standards.
  • Works with key business partners and Entity business functions (I.e. Bio-Med, Radiology, Clinical Engineering, etc.) to understand and blueprint technology architecture solutions that meet and enable business drivers. Establishes a collaborative working relationship with business functions to facilitate the aforementioned goals.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
  • Engages with peers and stakeholders across MedStar through meetings and workshops to gather information and communicate requirementS.
  • Facilitates architecture steering committee, to communicate architecture vision and solicit feedback from technology and cybersecurity leadership and teams.
  • Researches and evaluates emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for improving MedStar's technology capabilities and infrastructure.
