General Summary of Position
Performs functions in an effort to streamline Emergency Department efficiency and effectiveness. This will be accomplished by accurately completing patient charge tickets, ensuring proper stocking of patient care areas as well as, overseeing supply and equipment utilization and maintenance.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Completes Emergency Department patient charge tickets by reviewing EMR to identify documented chargeable items and nursing time, comparing MD and RN documentation to identify discrepancies, ensuring date and time of charge ticket completion correlates with date and time of service, and maintaining log of frequently noted documentation deficiencies and or discrepancies.
  • Maintains and monitors ED supply usage to include completing ED supply, non-stock, office supply and EMS orders at least twice weekly; approving non-stock items in Cerner; maintaining and monitoring non-stock log book to identify departmental needs; monitoring non-stock supply usage to identify need to convert to stock items; monitors usage and adjusts par levels as needed; following-up on backordered items; separating EMS supplies, bags and labels them for each company; keeping ALS closet stocked and organized; monitoring usage and orders surgical instruments; rotating supplies and monitoring expiration dates.
  • Maintains and monitors equipment usage for the ED by completing daily rounds to ensure equipment is in place and functioning properly, monitoring and reporting to department leader, the need for new/replacement equipment, submitting maintenance requests for all faulty equipment, maintaining and monitoring maintenance request log, following up on incomplete maintenance requests, and completing equipment cleaning and organization.
  • Maintains and monitors departmental carts, trays and boxes. Completes daily checks and stocking of but not limited to the following: IV carts, suture carts, central line box, dental box and surgical trays. Monitors and updates cart/tray/box content and usage to identify effectiveness. Collaborates with providers and staff to design additional carts/trays/boxes to improve efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Emergency Department.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
    • Experience

      • Previous experience in an emergency department setting preferred
      • Experience/familiarity with an electronic medical record system preferred


      This position has a hiring range of $17.5 - $28.73
